Former two-time champion Petra Kvitova begins her final Wimbledon campaign. Round one sees her take on the tenth seed Emma Navarro. Will this be her final singles match at this grass court Grand Slam? Read our match prediction.
Kvitova first played here in 2008 and won the singles title in both 2011 and 2014. The 35-year-old was given a wild card to play in this main draw. Kvitova returned to the WTA Tour this year but has only won one of her seven matches. This is her first against a top-ten ranked player since returning.
Her most recent tournament was at Queen's Club when losing in three sets to Beatriz Haddad Maia who later lost to Navarro in that tournament. The winner of this match will be up against either Zhu Lin or Veronika Kudermetova in the second round.
Emma Navarro was a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon last year. This is only her third time playing this Grand Slam. The American has played three grass court tournaments this year and reached the last eight in two of them.
In Bad Homburg, the 24-year-old took eventual champion Jessica Pegula to a final set after a previous win over Naomi Osaka.
