Jannik SInner continues his bid to become world number one. He's in that position in the live rankings and takes on unseeded Pavel Kotov in round three at Roland Garros. Sinner is seeded second for this Grand Slam but it's one in which he has only once previously reached the last eight. That was in his first time in the French Open in 2020. The Italian has earned more ranking points than any other player on the ATP Tour this year with three titles being won. Only twice has he been beaten this year in 32 matches that made it onto court. One of those was in the Monte Carlo semi-final on clay when losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas. He then played in Madrid but pulled out of his quarter-final due to injury. So far at Roland Garros this year, he's beaten Christopher Eubanks and Richard Gasquet without losing a set.

Pavel Kotov achieved a career-high of 56th in the latest rankings. He's beaten that with this run to the third round of the French Open. Kotov is now up to 51st and can get as high as 44th if causing a big shock on Friday. He's playing in this outdoor clay court Grand Slam for only the third time. Before this year, he'd never made it past round one. That's all changed in 2024 with wins over 32nd seed Cameron Norrie and unseeded Stan Wawrinka. This is far tougher though and we tip Sinner to get a straight sets victory.
