Bayern Munich will travel to Panathinaikos on Match Day 2 of the 2024/25 EuroLeague. Both teams won on Match Day 1 and here are the highlights and our prediction of their Thursday meeting.

Panathinaikos began their EuroLeague title defence on the road against Alba and registered an 87-77 victory. Five players scored in double figures in the game with Kendrick Nun leading the way with 16 points.

The win saw them get back to winning ways after losing to Greek rivals Olympiacos in the domestic Super Cup. Ergin Ataman’s men have three wins in the four matches they played this season across all competitions.

They also won the last three times they battled Bayern in Europe. Omer Yurtseven and Marius Grigonis will be available for this match after recovering from injury.

Bayern have struggled against Panathinaikos and even lost in a friendly tie three weeks ago. But having had a morale-boosting start to their European campaign, they will arrive confident of a win.

Gordon Herbert’s men produced the best offensive showing of Match Day 1 thanks to a 97-89 victory over Real Madrid. Shabazz Napier scored a game-high 25 points in the game while Johannes Voigtmann dropped 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Bayern have won four of their five matches this season across all competitions and are on a three-match winning run. They’ve scored at least 95 points in their last two games. 

On a sad note for the German heavyweights, Niels Giffey has been ruled out for an extensive period due to injury. The forward fractured a finger over the weekend in domestic league action.
