Could it be third time lucky for Ons Jabeur? The past two weeks have seen her as the top seed but no titles have been won by the Tuinisian. Jabeur begins the Ningbo Open as top seed and faces Diane Parry in round one. The winner will face either unseeded Tamara Korpatsch or qualifier Jodie Burrage in the next round. Jabeur is ranked seventh in the latest list and for the WTA Live race eighth which is the final qualfying position for the Tour Finals. A good run in Ningbo could see her climb up to sixth on that list. The 29-year-old has lost three of her last four matches and not reached at least a quarter final since Cincinnati in mid-August. With no seeds to beat to get to the last eight of this tournament, Jabeur really needs to step up to the plate this week. Doing so will boost her chances of getting into the Tour Finals.

Diane Parry is down at 99th in the latest rankings. The French player was in 58th position 11 months ago but has been struggling for form in recent weeks. Her last five matches have all ended in defeat and all lost in straight sets.  Her last win was over Lucia Bronzetti in mid-August. That was a qualifying match and the last time she won in the main draw of a tournament was on clay in July. On hard courts Parry's last main draw WTA Tour win was 11 months ago. Jabeur can win this in straight sets.
