Norway are bidding to win the Women's European Handball title for the ninth time. They are also the current world champions and have won all their matches in this year's European championships. The Norwegians finished top of Group A in the preliminary round with victories over Croatia, Switzerland and Hungary, all by a margin of at least nine goals. They carried four points into Group I of the Main Round and continued their unbeaten record with a 27-25 win over Sweden. 17 of their last 18 internationals have been won with six wins in a row since being beaten by the Netherlands in October.

Slovenia are the host nation and currently third in this main round group. They could only finish third in preliminary round Group B. The hosts had wins over Denmark and Serbia but lost heavily by 11 goals to Sweden who are also in this main round group. The Slovenians have four points after beating Croatia in this group and end their matches with a game against bottom-of-the-group Hungary. This is going to be tough for them but with second placed Denmark ending with a match against Norway, they still have a chance of making it into the semi-finals. The last two meetings between these countries both ended in wins for Norway. Back them to win this game and be ahead at both half and full time.
