How does the Euro Handball 2022 work?

In order to bet on the 2022 European Women's Handball Championship, you have to understand how it works. Let's talk about the organization of the competition, which is divided into three distinct phases.

First phase: the preliminary round. Held from 4 to 9 November 2022, this divides the 16 participating countries into four groups of four teams, named A, B, C and D. In each group the teams play each other once, and try to finish in the top three places. The last team in each group is eliminated from the tournament. In this European Championship, a win earns 2 points, a draw 1 point and a loss 0 points.

In the second phase (10-16 November 2022), the twelve remaining nations are then divided into two groups of 6. The top two teams in each group qualify for the semi-finals, and the third-placed teams play each other for fifth square. The third phase is then classic, with knockout matches (semi-finals, final, 3rd and 5th place matches). All in all, a great program.

Tournament details

  • Venues: Ljubljana and Celje (Slovenia), Podgorica (Montenegro), Skopje (Northern Macedonia)
  • The dates: 4-20 November 2022
  • The last winner: Norway (2020)

Our tips for betting on 2022 European Women's Handball Championship

Sports Betting Tips - 2022 European Women's Handball Championship

Are you planning to bet on this 2022 European Women's Handball Championship? There are a few tips to know. Here, according to our experts, are the most important betting tips for the end of the year.

Take into account the form of the moment

First of all, of course, you should look at the form of the different nations. For example, you should look at the qualifying campaign for this European Championship (what results? against whom?), the last few warm-up games, and even the games played by the different players at club level. This will give you a clear indication of how the groups live, and their ability to string together good results. Even if they are announced as favorites for a match, a team that has not won for 3 matches should be avoided in your sports betting.

Observe the performance of important players

In addition to the collective form of the different national teams, you should also evaluate the form of the best players. Don't forget that in handball, as elsewhere, game changers exist and that they can single-handedly change the fate of a match. The French player Pauletta Foppa, for example, has had a bad outing, during which she was clumsy and nervous? This will have a negative impact on her entire team. On the other hand, if she puts in a great performance and seems to be walking on water in the last game, this will have a positive impact on her selection. It's up to you to analyze the latest performances of each player for all nations.

Check the unavailable players

In the same vein, it is also important to check for possible absences before betting on a Women's Handball match. Sandra Toft can't make it in goal for Denmark? Think twice before betting on an easy match for her team. Is Stine Oftedal doubtful for Norway ahead of the game you want to bet on? The same reasoning will apply. If a player is not expected to play (injury, suspension), you should definitely consider whether or not to convert your prediction into a bet. If the potential winnings are not worth the risk, then you should avoid validating your coupon.

Detecting rivalries

The fourth piece of advice from our handball specialists is to look out for possible rivalries between the nations. For a long time, there have been some rivalries in women's handball, built up over the course of events such as the Euro, the World Cup or the Olympic Games. France-Norway, for example, is always a tense match between two of the best European nations of recent years. In this type of match, the game sometimes gets tense, often resulting in less spectacle. If you are a fan of handicap betting, this tip will save your bacon more than once in November.

Don't gamble on games with no stakes

Finally, the last big tip is to avoid betting on games where there is nothing at stake for either nation. If a team is already guaranteed to be eliminated from the tournament, or on the contrary to finish the phase in its current place, it could indeed be that a lack of motivation (or of talent following a turnover) will disrupt the meaning of the match . Your pre-match idea would then be biassed, and your gamble all the more risky. In the group stages in particular, remember to avoid this type of duel. For knockout matches, the question no longer arises.
