After a strong start to their Challenge Cup campaign, Northampton Saints return to domestic action, playing host to Sale Sharks in this Premiership Rugby round seven fixture on Saturday. Can the Saints carry that early European momentum into Premiership Rugby to end their recent losing run on the domestic scene? Here is our prediction. 

Northampton Saints lost heavily to Bristol Bears in their last Premiership Rugby game. They shipped 35 unanswered points in the first half before losing 46-12 against the Bears. However, the Jimmies will be confident of a positive result in Saturday’s clash, having won four of their six Premiership Rugby matches this season. 

They also head into the match with back-to-back wins in their two opening Challenge Cup fixtures. These include a staggering 50-5 home victory over Bulls on Sunday – their fourth win from five home games.

Sale Sharks fell by just one point to Exeter Chiefs in their last Premiership Rugby game, losing 27-26 at home to the Chiefs. This was followed by another defeat in their Challenge Cup opener before they bounced back with a shock 35-14 away win against Clermont in their second fixture on Saturday. 

However, the Sharks have failed to win six of their last seven domestic away games, dating back to last season. These include defeats in their three Premiership Rugby away fixtures this season.
