Lorenzo Musetti continues with his strategy of only playing at the major events. He returns at Wimbledon, where, in the first round, he faces Nikoloz Basilashvili. The two have faced off twice before, and we have the prediction below for their next meeting.

Of their two previous meetings, one was on grass, and Basilashvili won. That was in Stuttgart in 2022. He comes into this one as a qualifier, facing the seventh seed.

The Georgian negotiated the qualifiers, beating Pablo Ruiz, Coleman Wong, and Juan Pablo Ficovich. The levels go higher from this point on.

Musetti hasn’t had action on grass so far this season. He may be coming into this one well rested after the clay season, but a lack of match time on the surface could derail him.

It is a complete change in strategy, as the Italian had an impressive showing on grass last season. Musetti has appeared at nine events this year, and seven of them were at Masters or Grand Slam level.

While this has ensured he stays in the top 10, Musetti is yet to win a title this season. However, he comes here having compiled a solid 25-8 record.

His last match was at the semis in the French Open; he retired while trailing Carlos Alcaraz 2-1.
