In-form Newcastle return to Premier League action and will on Saturday host struggling Burnley. After six rounds of play, Newcastle are eighth in the standings while Burnley are second from bottom. Newcastle are unbeaten in their last four matches and arrive for this fixture after an impressive League Cup win over Manchester City. Eddie Howe's men won 1-0 at home to progress to the fourth round. The win followed last weekend's historic 8-0 thumping of lowly Sheffield United. Key to the Magpies' form has been their defense which has kept four successive clean sheets. Newcastle have won three of their six league matches with two of those victories coming with them as hosts. The hosts have won four of the last five meetings with Burnley.

Burnley are also coming off League Cup success. Vincent Kompany's men brushed aside League Two side Salford City 4-0 away from home on Tuesday. The win ended a three-match stretch without a victory and the visitors will hope it inspires a season turnaround. Burnley are yet to win in the league and have lost four of five matches. The Clarets now sit two points adrift of safety. Burnley have looked more comfortable playing away from home. Their only point was earned while away and their two victories, both in the Cup, have come with them as the visitors.
