The defending champion Golden State Warriors will look to get back to .500 when they head to the Mecca of basketball to take on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Golden State were able to put an end to their three game losing streak thanks to a 126-110 away win over the Raptors on Sunday. The win was the Warriors first of their current six game road trip which ends tomorrow when the champions take on the Brooklyn Nets. Golden State’s title defense hasn’t gone to plan so far this season as they sit on a record of 15 wins and 16 losses, putting them 11th in the Western Conference. Now they will have to face an extended stretch of games with star player and two-time MVP Steph Curry set to miss around 15 games. The result sees the Warriors come into this game as significant underdogs against one of the hottest teams in basketball. 

New York has won their last seven games on the bounce following their 109-106 over the Indiana Pacers. Even more impressive is that four of the Knicks’ last five wins have come on the road. They’ll now return home to the Garden with a view to push their winning streak to eight games, which would put them just one game behind the Celtics and Bucks shared season best nine game winning streak. They’ve also been able to turn around a previous barren run of form in front of the home fans, beating the Kings, Cavaliers and Hawks in the last two weeks on home court – all teams with winning records. The key to this game will, of course, be how Golden State are able to cope with the absence of their talisman Stephen Curry. The Warriors have only managed one win from five games that Curry has missed so far, coming in the team’s latest win over Toronto.
