The fourth-place New York Knicks will play host to the 15th-place Detroit Pistons in this Eastern Conference clash on Monday. The Pistons lost 114-101 at home to the Pelicans on Sunday which was their sixth loss in a row. The losing streak has dropped Detroit’s record down to 12-59 and once again sees them as the league’s worst team with the Wizards having won their last two. The Pistons will face a short turnaround as they now head to the Big Apple for the second leg of their back-to-back and their third game in the last four days. The visitors have been struggling to put up points in recent contests and are averaging just under 100 points per game over his six-game losing run.

New York is having an excellent season and ranks fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 42-28 record. This has them trailing the third-place Cavaliers by just half a game. Overtaking the Cavs would mean the potential for New York’s best finish since the 2012/13 team that finished second in the conference. Their last outing saw them beat local rivals Brooklyn 105-93 at home. The Knicks have really shined with their depth this season as they have been dealing with a number of injuries for seemingly the entire campaign. Julius Randle has only played 46 of the 70 games so far while OG Anunoby has only suited up 17 times for New York since his trade deadline switch from Toronto (missing 22 games so far). Despite important players coming in and out of the team, the Knicks have remained consistent thanks to the stellar play of All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson. Head coach Tom Thibodeau has also asked a lot of his players, keeping true to his reputation. Josh Hart and Miles McBride have both played the full 48 minutes in games in the last week, the latter of which occurred in the Knicks latest win over the Nets.
