Norway have lined up three friendly matches before they mark their return to the FIFA World Cup. First on that roster is an away fixture against the Netherlands, which will be hosted at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam. We have compiled the match stats ahead of the encounter, and below we have at least two predictions for this clash.
The Dutch will also be looking at this as a key game in their preparations for the 2026 World Cup. The Netherlands will not only be enjoying home support for this game, but they also have a healthy head-to-head advantage. They haven't lost to Norway since 1992, a run of eight games, in which Holland won five and drew three.
The Norwegians will, however, come into this game a different side from the one in previous years. They’ve scored four or more goals in four of their last five matches and come here unbeaten in 12, with 11 wins.

Netherlands - Norway: Form Analysis
After the Netherlands struggled in recent years to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, this time it was much smoother. They will hope for a similar run in the preparations for the tournament too. That could be the reason they’ve picked on one of the toughest sides heading to the competition.
The Dutch finished unbeaten in Group G and are unbeaten in 90 minutes in their last 12 matches. They’ve been scoring a lot lately and have kept four clean sheets in their last six home matches, which will build their confidence. Another aspect of their optimism will be drawn from their head-to-head record against Norway. The Oranje haven’t lost in eight meetings with Norway, winning five times.
Norway’s last win against the Netherlands was in 1992.
This will mark only the second friendly match between these nations in their 11 meetings. Norway will be looking to bring to a halt an eight-game winless run against their hosts here. One guarantee that the Dutch should expect is that this is a different Norway team, with much better and hungrier players.
There is a reason Norway are being referred to as the 2026 World Cup’s dark horse. They will mark a first appearance there after last featuring in 1998, and Norway had a fine run through the qualifiers, winning eight of eight. Among the teams they thumped home and away was Italy. Landslaget have also posted five straight wins on the road.

Netherlands & Norway Squad Analysis
If there is one player who will welcome the international break with both arms, it has to be Cody Gakpo. Both the forward and his team, Liverpool, are doing badly this season. Gakpo hasn’t been able to score in the last six outings for the club.
However, it all clicks when he joins his matches at the national team. He has seven goal involvements in the Netherlands’ last five matches, though. The Dutch will in this game miss a few top players. Memphis Depay is nursing a thigh injury while Jurrien Timber has lately been out of action for the Gunners.
The Netherlands will have Paul van Hecke back after suspension.
The big news out of the Norwegian camp is that Erling Haaland could be rested. The Manchester City forward hasn’t been scoring a lot lately, and fatigue has been blamed for this slump. Haaland will be missed, considering he netted at least twice in Norway’s four straight games.
This, though, could be a welcome development for Antonio Nusa. The RB Leipzig forward will be in line to add to his four goal involvements in Norway’s last four matches. The visitors will also be without their skipper, Martin Ødegaard. The Arsenal midfielder is nursing a knee injury and has played under 60 minutes in the last 13 matches.

Our Netherlands vs Norway Prediction
Norway were previously the underdogs in this fixture, but here they come with a chance to win this as much as their hosts. The visitors have been in superb form lately, and only New Zealand so far has stopped them from posting 12 straight wins.
They drew 1-1 in that encounter, a friendly game back in October 2025. The Netherlands are also enjoying a strong run of form ahead of this encounter. We doubt either team will easily give up their momentum, with the World Cup approaching. That is why our prediction for the Netherlands v Norway is for a draw.
Netherlands vs Norway Alternative Predictions
More than 2.5 goals
These two nations’ recent progress has been boosted by their scoring forms. Norway have scored 4+ in four of their last five matches. In those five matches, they’ve netted a total of 25 goals. The Dutch, on their part, scored four in three of their last four matches. A total of 19 goals were scored in their last five matches. Based on such numbers, our second prediction for this game is for over 2.5 goals.
