Montenegro and Serbia will hope to keep their perfect starts to the 2024 UEFA Euro Qualifiers when they face off on Monday in Podgorica. Having won their opening Group G matches, each side will now seek to take outright leadership of the group with a win here. Montenegro won 1-0 away to Bulgaria on Friday, the same day that Serbia won 2-0 at home against Lithuania. Montenegro couldn’t have wished for a better start after almost being relegated from League B of the Nations League last season. The Brave Falcons managed just two wins and only goal difference saved them from the chop. Having lost both previous matches against Serbia, they will hope that the win over Bulgaria, which ended a run of four matches without a win, gives them the impetus to win. Miodrag Radulovic will have a full squad from which to pick from after everyone involved against Bulgaria come through unscathed.
Serbia come into this match with better form and are favourites to finish top in this group. After failing to win a single match at last year’s World Cup, the Eagles have responded by winning their last two games. Despite their topsy-turvy form, one thing has remained constant and that is their ability to find the back of the net. Serbia have won in each of their last three matches in European Championship qualification. Dragan Stokjovic also has a full squad to pick from but will hope they can improve on only one clean sheet in their last six matches.
