Stan Wawrinka will compete in Basel as a wildcard and will face off with the unseeded Miomir Kecmanovic in the first round. This is their first meeting since 2023. Below is our prediction for this match.

Miomir Kecmanovic has returned to the Swiss Indoors for a fourth appearance. He hasn’t had the best of times in this event and has won just one match and suffered two first-round exits.

With his recent form, he could be in for another early exit. Kecmanovic, who has compiled a 23-26 record, has won just two of his last seven fixtures.

Currently placed 52nd in the ATP, the Serb was last in action in Stockholm.

Wawrinka has competed in Basel since 2006. Though yet to win this event, the Swiss star has produced strong performances here in the past.

A two-time Basel semi-finalist, Wawrinka has won 16 duels in his home event and made at least the quarters six times. With a head-to-head advantage over Kecmanovic, he will hope to produce another deep run in what could be his last appearance.

The 40-year-old, a multiple Grand Slam champion, has alternated between the tour and challenger circuits in recent seasons.

This year, most of his success has come in the lower division, where he has managed two Challenger finals. A former world number three, Wawrinka is currently ranked outside the top 170 in the live ranking.
