The Minnesota Timberwolves will be at home for a mouthwatering NBA matchup against the Denver Nuggets. Both teams are tied in the Western Conference standings with the Timberwolves in second and the Nuggets third. Minnesota have won their last three matches and have intensified their quest to return to the summit in the West. They are now just half a game from top spot. Chris Finch’s men are coming off a back-to-back with the Jazz in Utah. They won the second game 114-104 to move to 47-21 for the season. The win came at a cost though as Naz Reid suffered a head injury and did not play the second half. Anthony Edwards also dislocated a finger but did finish the game. It is up to see if both players will be available for this game. The Timberwolves have averaged 117.0 points over their last three matches. They will continue to be without Karl-Anthony Towns and Jaylen Clark through injuries.

The Nuggets saw a five-game winning run snapped last time out and will be keen to get back to winning ways. Mike Malone’s men missed their chance to hold on to top spot after a 107-105 defeat in Dallas. Their 21st defeat in 68 games saw them drop to half a game behind conference leaders OKC. With less than 20 matches left to play, the race for top spot in the West is expected to intensify with each round. The Nuggets and Timberwolves have two more matchups between them after this next meeting. Denver have won five of the last seven encounters with Minnesota. They however did lose the first matchup of the season 110-89 back in November which was the last time they were in Minneapolis. Zeke Nnaji is questionable for this game while Vlatko Cancar remains a long-term absentee. The Nuggets have averaged 107.3 points over their last three outings.
