The Miami Heat will seek to get back to winning ways when they host the Washington Wizards next in the NBA. They are currently sixth in the East standings while the Wizards sit bottom of the conference. The Heat are back home after a disappointing short two-game trip out in the West. Erik Spoelstra’s men lost both away matches with the recent one seeing them fall 107-100 to the Thunder. Now with a 35-28 record, Miami cannot afford another successive defeat as they will drop into the play-in places. They are tied with seventh-placed Philadelphia and are half a game from Indiana in eighth. Miami have won both matches against Washington this season. The Heat have been hit by the injury bug. Tyler Herro, Caleb Martin, Josh Richardson and Kevin Love all missed the Oklahoma trip.

The Wizards finally got in the winning column last time out to end a 16-match losing streak. Washington defeated the Hornets 112-100 at home to put to a halt to their longest losing run this season. This was their 10th win in 63 games. Despite the victory, they still possess the worst record in the league. Six players scored in double figures against the Hornets with Kyle Kuzma putting up 28 points to lead his team to victory. Kuzma leads the team in scoring and is averaging 22.3 points a game. Landry Shamet, Isaiah Livers, and Marvin Bagley III missed the win over the Hornets due to injuries and could be sidelined again here. The Wizards have lost four times in the last five meetings with the Heat. Another loss here will see them lose this regular season series with a game to spare.
