This year’s WTA Washington Open final will be contested by wildcard Paula Badosa and the unseeded Marie Bouzkova. It will be the third career meeting between the two so let’s look at the stats and a prediction of the match.

Marie Bouzkova has progressed to her second final of the year and seventh of her career. To get here, she defeated top seed and highly favored Aryna Sabalenka in three sets in the semi-finals. The Czech player has often struggled whenever she made it this far in a tour event.

Badosa has a 100% record when it comes to title deciders, having won all three finals she has contested. One is a WTA 1000 title in Indian Wells. With an unblemished record in this fixture with Bouzkova, the 26-year-old will be confident of another win here.

Badosa won the two times she squared off with Bouzkova. Both matches were on hard courts with their most recent showdown taking place in Miami two seasons ago. Badosa’s run in DC has catapulted her 18 places in the live ranking and allowed her to return to the WTA top 50 at number 44.
