Tatjana Maria has qualified for the main draw in her Queen’s Club Championship title defence and will face off with Maria Sakkari next. Their sixth career meeting takes place in the first round. Maria has nine straight wins in London, and our prediction favours her.

Sakkari starts her grass season with a debut appearance in London. The Greek star had a wobbly clay season, losing five of eight fixtures, and will hope for a change on grass.

Sakkari is coming off a third-round finish at the French Open. The former world number three, who is currently placed 38th in the live ranking, has compiled a shaky 11-11 record.

She’s won three of the previous five duels with Maria.

Tatjana Maria produced one of her best moments on the tour last year as she won in London as a qualifier. It was her fourth career title and the first above the 250 level.

She has returned to defend her crown and, just like last season, has started off in the preliminary rounds. Maria won both of her qualifiers, dropping just one set.

To advance to the main draw, the German, who has lacked consistency this season, defeated Kamila Rakhimova in straights. Despite progressing to the main draw, Maria has plummeted in the live ranking and sits outside the top 100 after a more than 70-place drop.
