Manchester City and Liverpool face off again for the second time in a week, this time at Wembley, in the FA Cup semi final. These two sides are coming from tough Champions League encounters and will be looking to settle back very quickly for this crunch game. Manchester City are coming from a 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid in Spain, their second straight draw after a 2-2 outcome against Liverpool on Sunday in the league. City are unbeaten in 10 matches, four of them draws and with seven clean sheets. They are on course for a treble and to get there they have to overcome Liverpool in this game. This is the third time they meet in the season, and there could be a fourth, depending on the process in the Champions League. In the earlier two meetings, these two giants drew 2-2 in both. Manchester City are however unbeaten in their last five matches against Liverpool.
Liverpool are coming from a 3-3 draw at home to Benfica in the Champions League. In the recent matches, they’ve been exposed defensively, conceding a total of six goals, and this could pose a danger heading to a game against Manchester City. However, Liverpool have made amends with a good scoring run, even though their talisman, Mohamed Salah has been on a slump. The Egyptian hasn’t scored in the last six matches, and his only goal in 10 matches came from the penalty spot. Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota have however stepped up and are doing well in attack, Jota and Mane netting in the 2-2 draw with City on Sunday. In their last four matches, The Reds have scored two or more goals. Liverpool are unbeaten in the last seven matches and have seven wins in 10 and are eyeing a quadruple, having already won the League Cup this season.
