Marrakech Open seventh seed Luciano Darderi will meet Tristan Boyer in the first round of the competition. The winner of this second meeting between these two will clash with Juan Manuel Cerundolo or Hugo Gaston next. Below is our prediction of the match.

Darderi went agonizingly close to winning the Naples Challenger title in his last outing. In three sets, he lost in the final to Vit Kopriva. He will hope the experience on that clay surface lifts him here.

The Italian is still on a losing record despite winning five of his last 11 matches. The loss in Naples sets his record at 6-9 for the season but he has five wins in nine on clay courts.

While Darderi went all the way to the Napoli Challenger final, Boyer fell at the first hurdle in the same event. That was the third of five tournaments in which he didn’t last past one match.

The American has managed just one win in the last five matches, thus coming into this match as the underdog. In the only previous meeting with Darderi, he posted a win, and will be looking to make it two here.

Boyer’s past two seasons were strong on clay but this time he opened with defeat, and comes into this match on an 8-8 record.
