The LA Clippers and Denver Nuggets are set to face off in Game 6 of their NBA Playoff series on Thursday night at the Intuit Dome. The Nuggets beat the Clippers in Game 5 to take a 3-2 lead in the series. Let’s get into the match prediction.
The LA Clippers are against the ropes, now 3-2 down in the series after getting smashed 131-115 on Tuesday, and staring at a possible first-round elimination for a third consecutive season.
Ivica Zubac was huge in Game 5, putting up a Playoff career-high 27 points, while Kawhi Leonard was just one rebound short of a triple-double with 20 points and 11 assists. However, James Harden made just three of 11 and ended on 11 points.
The glaring difference for LA in the last game compared to the majority of the season was their lack of physicality on defence, which allowed Jamal Murray to run riot from long range.
Indeed, Murray had one of the best games of his career, shooting 17 of 26 from the field, including draining eight of 14 from beyond the arc en route to 43 points.
Russell Westbrook made an impressive return from injury with 21 points, while Nikola Jokic had a fairly quiet night with 13 points, but still recorded the 21st triple-double of his career.
The one thing Denver will want to address, though, is closing out games. The Clippers erased a 22-point deficit in Game 4 and posted a 17-4 run in the fourth quarter in Game 5 to trim the Nuggets' lead to nine.
