Liverpool - Arsenal: Form Analysis
A star was born last weekend when a 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha came off the bench to score his first Premier League goal for Liverpool in the 10th minute of injury time against Newcastle on the road.
The Reds beat the Toons 3-2, taking their goal tally for the season to seven, which is the most in the league after two weeks. However, they have now also conceded two or more goals in five of their last six league games either side of the summer break.
Slot’s men turned Anfield into a fortress last term, losing only once back in September before ending the season unbeaten in 17 league games (W13 D4). They only failed to score two or more goals once during that unbeaten run.
Both games between these sides last season ended in 2-2 draws!
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been the epitome of defensive mastery this season, having kept clean sheets in both their games. However, they also showed their attacking prowess last week when smashing five past Leeds United.
The Gunners also had the best defence in the league last season when they were the only team in the top flight to concede fewer than one goal per 90. The last time they won the first three games of a season without conceding was just over a century ago.
The visitors are unbeaten in their last 15 away league games (W8 D7) but have not won at this venue since 2012.

Arne Slot deployed Dominik Szoboszlai as a makeshift right-back last week in the absence of Jeremie Frimpong. However, Conor Bradley came off the bench in that match and is expected to make the starting 11 this weekend.
Hugo Ekitike has made an excellent start to life on Merseyside, now with two goals and an assist after two league games. Mohamed Salah set up the winner against the Toons last week and will be hoping to add to his 11-goal tally against the Gunners here.
Cody Gakpo has three goal contributions in two league games this season!
Gakpo has been relishing his new role down the left and will test his compatriot Jurrien Timber’s defensive abilities fully this week. The Dutch full-back scored twice against Leeds last time out.
However, the victory over the Whites came at a cost for Mikel Arteta’s side, with both Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard sustaining injuries. Saka is expected to be out for at least a month, while the extent of Odegaard’s injury is still unclear. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are also sidelined.
Viktor Gyokeres opened his account with a brace last week, and he should get the nod from the start here. Saka and Odegaard’s absences could see Eberechi Eze make his Gunners’ debut.
