Italy will be out to make it two wins in two when they meet Slovenia at the 2025 Women’s EuroBasket Championship. They top Group B while Slovenia are third. Read on for our prediction of the match.
Italy are coming off a strong win over Serbia to open their seventh consecutive appearance in this tournament. Winners of the inaugural showpiece, Italy secured a 70-61 victory over Serbia, with Cecilia Zandalasini scoring a game-high 20 points.
She also grabbed 11 boards. Andrea Capobianco’s side shot 42% from the field and 38% from three, which so far is the third-best record from beyond the arc. Italy, who are one of the four hosts of this year’s showpiece, have never lost to Slovenia.
Slovenia lost their opener to Lithuania and will be keen to make an immediate response and avoid elimination. Georgios Dikaioulakos’ side arrived for the tournament in great shape, as they hadn’t lost in 11 games across all competitions.
This should have had them confident of ending their long wait for a EuroBasket win. A slow start against Lithuania, however, saw them succumb to their fifth continental championship defeat.
The 22nd-ranked nation in the world shot just 38% from the field as Lithuania won 77-71. Slovenia, who are in their fifth consecutive championship, were led by center Jessica Shepard’s double-double of 25 points and 17 boards.
