Stage 14 of the Tour de France takes us into the big hills with almost 4,000m of vertical climbing to be done and three Category One climbs on the way. This makes it the ideal terrain for Tadej Pogacar to take more time out of the field on his way to glory in Paris. 

Tadej Pogacar has been imperious so far at this Tour de France. When he has put in the big effort, there has been nobody capable of going with him. Without a question the best rider in the peloton, he is going to prove hard to beat if he attacks. 

The man who chased him home last year was Jonas Vingegaard and he is in the second spot once more again so far. It feels like it is going to take a special team ride from Visma if they are to break UAE and Pogacar on one of these climbs. 

Third spot at present belongs to Remco Evenepoel who is yet to bag a stage in this year’s Tour de France but will be looking for one. There is no doubt that he is a smart climber but perhaps these slightly lesser climbs away from haut catégorie mountains are more his thing. Should be a big player.  

Juan Ayuso and Paul Seixas are the two men to round out the top five at present, with both holding claims on a spot on the podium in Paris. This is a key stage for both, with a show of strength required.
