Both Inter and Milan were slow starters to the season, opening with losses but have since stabilized well though many draws have seen Milan stay 10th as Inter occupy third slot though with one game more played. Four points separate the two giants and while Milan carry a longer unbeaten run to the match, it is Inter who have the momentum, with six straight wins in all competitions ahead of the clash. Inter have also picked four straight wins in Serie A and in the last three league matches, they have scored twice in each and have three clean sheets and five wins in the last six league matches. In their eight league matches, Inter have scored twice or more in five, while they have failed to score in just two matches. They are starting to stabilize at home in the league, with two straight wins, having failed to win in the previous four and they have managed seven wins and three losses in their last 15 home matches. Inter takes on a Milan side with three wins and three draws in Serie A, an issue of concern for them though remains the fact that they have not managed to keep a clean sheet in the last 13 Serie A matches and they have just one in the last 15 league matches and away from home, Milan have two wins in the last eight matches though this may not be so much reflected in this game with both sides accustomed to playing at the stadium. Three of the two sides’ last five meetings have ended in draws, with the most recent one yielding no goal which saw Milan register two straight clean sheets in meetings with Inter, having beaten their city rivals 1 – 0 in the earlier game.
