Game 3 was, without question, the most back-and-forth clash of this series so far. We saw the game tied 13 times and the lead exchanged on eight occasions before the Indiana Pacers pulled away in Q4.
As we pointed out before the last match, the Pacers have not lost back-to-back games since March. In Game 3, their bench ensured that record remained intact by outscoring OKC’s second unit 49-18.
For all that the Pacers did well on offence, what stood out the most for us in midweek was their defence, which recorded 11 blocks and 13 steals, while forcing the Thunder into 17 turnovers.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are now 0-8 ATS on the road in the postseason!
While we know that the Thunder have the ability and personnel to turn this series around, we have to acknowledge that their fourth-quarter performances in this series are a cause for concern.
After blowing a big lead in Game 1, OKC took a five-point lead into the final quarter of Game 3 but ended up losing by nine. They were simply outhustled down the stretch and shot 1/6 inside the paint and 0/4 from range in the final 5:25 minutes.
On top of that, for the first time this series, Oklahoma were well below their usual high standards from the free-throw line, missing seven of 30 attempts, while the Pacers drained 19/22.

For the Thunder, this season has been about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but the Pacers strangled him into one of his most tame performances of the postseason.
The reigning MVP has been putting up 30+ points with ease most nights during the Playoffs, but in midweek, he was limited to a tepid 24 points, including just six trips to the charity stripe.
Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren combined for 46 points. However, Myles Turner locked up Holmgren expertly down the stretch, while Andrew Nembhard restricted SGA to just a single bucket in the entire Q4.
Is there is case to be made that Bennedict Mathurin was the best Canadian on the court in G3?
Well, it would be difficult to leave him out of the conversation, having delivered 27 points in 22 minutes on 9/12 shooting and 7/8 from the free-throw line.
We called for a bigger performance from Tyrese Haliburton after Game 2, and he did just that in the last match, racking up 12 points and seven assists on 55% shooting by halftime. The Pacers’ point guard ended just shy of a triple-double - 22 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.
However, while Haliburton has been the driving force for Indiana, it was T.J. McConnell who placed his signature hustle on Game 3. In 15 minutes, he had five steals, 10 points and five assists, which brought the energy back to his team and the home crowd at just the right time.
