A clash between two of the Eastern Conference’s in-form teams awaits in this Monday NBA matchup between the Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers. This is the second meeting between these two teams in the last two days. The Celtics currently hold the league’s best record at 28-7 while the Pacers find themselves in seventh-place at 20-15. Boston earned a victory in the first contest on Saturday by a score of 118-101 over Indiana. The win was the second in a row for the NBA’s best team and their eighth in the last 10 overall. The Celtics were red hot in their win over the Pacers, shooting 51% from the field and 39% from deep en route to draining 19 three-pointers. Jayson Tatum led the way with a brilliant game, posting 38 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. Combined with Jaylen Brown’s 31 and it was going to take an otherworldly performance to upset the Cs on the night.

 With such a congested middle of the East standings, Indiana sits seventh despite being only a half game behind the fourth-placed Magic. The loss two days ago snapped a six game winning streak for the Pacers who were playing arguably their best basketball of the season. Their 101 points also marked their lowest score of the entire season, a testament to the lockdown nature of the Boston defense. Indiana had previously scored 140 or more in three of the four games prior to the Celtics game, as well as cracking the 150 points mark for the third time in the 2023/24 campaign. The Pacers are the highest-scoring team in the Association with an average of 126.3 per game and rank second in adjusted offensive rating. The only team with a higher adjusted offensive rating are their opponents today.
