A battle between English and Welsh sides is in the offing when Gloucester Rugby host Scarlets in Friday’s Challenge Cup match. The Cherry and Whites and the Turks will be looking to add some consistency to their season. Below is our prediction for the clash.

Gloucester commenced their Challenge Cup campaign with a 15-10 win over Edinburgh in a match that saw the latter receive two sin bins. George Skivington’s men, however, suffered a heavy 43-19 loss to Top 14 strugglers Vannes.

This sort of mixed form has left Gloucester fifth in the group with four points from their opening two games. Gloucester will need a victory here to keep alive hopes of a playoff, with the first and last teams separated by only two points.

Scarlets posted a challenging start to the tournament following a 17-16 loss to French side Aviron Bayonnais. Back in their own backyard, however, the Turks blew away Black Lions 36-18 in a game in which Josh Macleod bagged a brace.

The two results see the visitors sitting third in the group with four points as they chase a playoff berth. Dwayne Peel’s men possess a mean defense that has only soaked in 35 points, the second-best in their group.

Their attack has also been decent, registering 52 points which is the second-best in their pool.
