France began their 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign with a stunning win over New Zealand. Now they take on Uruguay who are playing their first match in Pool A. It should be a far more comfortable ride for the the Blues in the rest of this pool.  The French Rugby XV still have Italy and Namibia to face after what should be a big win over Uruguay. They are now heavy favorites to win this pool and may be able to make some team changes allowing key players to be rested for the last eight. France haven't made it past the quarter finals of the Rugby World Cup since 2011. If they continue to play as they did against the All-Blacks, then at least the semi-finals should be reached.

Uruguay are ranked 17th in the world which is 14 places below their opponents. Of the countries that have qualified for this tournament, only Romania, Namibia and Chile are ranked lower than them. Los Teros are playing in the Rugby World Cup finals for the fifth time in their history. They first qualified in 1999 and this is the third consecutive tournament they have played in. 2019 saw them get a narrow win over Fiji but still ended up bottom of their pool. Of 15 matches played in the finals, only three have ended in victory. Three matches have been played against a French XV in the past and all were low with a combined points difference of - 120.  They may win one match in this group as a recent win was recorded against Namibia. However, there have been losses in the past year to Tonga, Romania, Georgia and Japan.  France can win this match and we recommend backing them on a -46 handicap.
