France will look to put one foot in the knockout stages of the 2023 Rugby World Cup when they take on Namibia on Thursday evening. The hosts currently lead Pool A while the visitors are at the foot of the table. France come into this match off the back of a 27-12 win over Uruguay last week. While that scoreline may suggest it was an easy victory, it does not tell the whole story of the match. Uruguay put up a very good contest and, at times, looked like they could even go on to take the lead and hung in right until the final 15 minutes of the match. Coach Fabien Galthie has rung the changes for this match as a result, announcing a full-strength squad in search of a big win. The French are on a five-match unbeaten streak. They will be looking to send a message to the other sides, having seen New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa already bag big wins in the competition. 

Meanwhile, Namibia have found it tough going in this competition. They have already faced two tier-one nations in quick succession and now face arguably their most difficult opponent to date. The visitors were beaten 52-8 by Italy in their opening match and were then taken apart by the All Blacks 71-3 last week. The Welwitschias are now the second-worst team in terms of points difference at -112, with only Romania faring worse at -150. Namibia have not beaten a tier-one side, nor have they won a match at the RWC in their history. Considering the team that the French have announced, Namibia could be in for a long afternoon in this one.
