Forest Green Rovers had a winning start to their season in League Two and will look to extend the same to Championship side Bristol City, who they face in the first round of the League Cup. This will be the first competitive meeting between the two sides, with Bristol holding two wins in the two friendly matches played earlier. A good finish to the preseason saw Forest Green beat Yeovil Town 1-0 before embarking on the season, where they started with a 2-1 win over Sutton United. A last-minute goal from Ebou Adams won them three crucial points and they go to this game having scored in four of their last five matches. The win over Sutton United was however the first time they managed to score more than a goal in the five matches.

Bristol City didn’t have the best of starts to the season as they were frustrated to a 1-1 draw with Blackpool, which now means they have no win in their last two matches. They were coasting to an opening win in the Championship but their visitors scored a stoppage time equalizer. Earlier, they had finished their preseason engagements with a 3-0 loss to top flight side Aston Villa but they had three straight wins before that and will hope to take that form to this game. They have failed to score in just one of their last five matches and three of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
