Third seed Emma Navaro plays the unseeded Diana Shnaider for the second time this year at the Bad Homburg Open. They will square off in the semi-finals with the winner playing Donna Vekic, Viktoriya Tomova or Anna Blinkova in the final.

Diana Shnaider has defeated Navarro already this year. She won their only encounter to lift the Clarins Open Challenger last month. With her dominance in this event, the Russian will be confident of another victory against Navarro.

Shnaider, who is one win away from her third career tour final and first on grass, hasn’t lost a set in Bad Homburg. She defeated Paula Badosa in the quarter-finals by the loss of nine games. Her fifth win on grass improved her record for the season to 27-13.

The 20-year-old, who won the title in Hua Hin earlier this season, has moved to 41st in the live ranking.

Emma Navarro is also a win away from advancing to her first tour final on grass. The American won her first tour title this year with her success in Hobart and should be confident of a win here.

She defeated former world number one Caroline Wozniacki in the last round. Their showdown ended prematurely in the early minutes of the third set due to an injury to Wozniacki. Navarro has now won three of four matches on grass and has improved her record to 36-14.

Advancing to this round has moved the 23-year-old two places and into 17th place in the live ranking. This is a career-high placing and another win here will bump her up one more place.
