Detroit come into this contest off the back of a 131-110 home loss to the Sacramento Kings last night. Detroit were unable to grab the victory despite outscoring the Kings 47-29 in the first quarter. Bojan Bogdanovic was tasked with carrying the team in the absence of star point guard Cade Cunningham who will again miss out in this game. The loss means that Detroit has now lost their last five on the bounce and their 15th home defeat on the season. They’ll have a quick turnaround here as they play the second leg of a back-to-back, a situation where they are 1-5 on the season.

San Antonio will have a significant rest advantage with their last game being played on the seventh. That outing resulted in a 117-115 loss to the 21-15 Cleveland Cavaliers, signaling a much improved performance from this young San Antonio team for the second consecutive game. The other was a thrilling 125-121 loss to the Bucks three days prior to the Cavs defeat. While they lost both, there are certainly positives that the Spurs players can draw and should be feeling good ahead of the trip to Detroit. This will likely be the team’s best chance to get another win on the board in the 2023/24 campaign. The visitors come into this game riding a five game losing streak.
