The NBA’s worst team will play host to the top team in the Western Conference when the Detroit Pistons host the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Pistons are rock-bottom of the Eastern Conference with the worst record in the NBA at 4-36. However, they were able to grab an elusive victory in their most recent appearance as they ran out 129-117 winners over the Washington Wizards on Monday. The win snapped a seven game losing streak for Detroit and was the team’s first win since they put a stop to their record-breaking losing streak at the end of 2023. The Pistons were able to get the victory despite being without their two best players in Cade Cunningham and Bojan Bogdanovic. Their star point guard Cunningham will miss out here but Bogdanovic could be in line for a return.

The Timberwolves continue to impress as they maintain their lead atop the Western Conference. Minnesota is 28-11 on the year and holds a 1.5 game lead over the OKC Thunder and Denver Nuggets. The team has improved leaps and bounds over the side that finished two games above .500 last year with their elite defense the main catalyst for their success. The TWolves rank as the top team in the entire NBA in terms of adjusted defensive rating (109.9) and are allowing the fewest points per game at 107.3. They proved their credentials yet again in their most recent appearance as they held the red-hot Clippers to just 105 points on 43% shooting in a 109-105 win last Sunday. The visitors have now won their last two in a row and six of their last 10 overall.
