The lowly Detroit Pistons look for an end to their nightmarish losing streak when they host the ninth-place Brooklyn Nets on Boxing Day. With every passing game the Pistons inch closer to the NBA’s longest ever losing streak of 28 games (which took place over two seasons). They’ve already suffered the ignominy of being tied for the longest ever single-season losing streak at 26 games with their latest loss. Detroit fell to Brooklyn 126-115 on the road three days prior in this home and away back-to-back matchup. They now return to the Little Caesars Arena, one loss away from setting the all-time single season record and two defeats away from the overall record. Needless to say, the Pistons are dead last in the Eastern Conference with a 2-27 record. With a winning percentage of .069, they’re also on track to set another unwanted record in that regard which currently belongs to the 2011/12 Bobcats (.106 winning percentage).

The Brooklyn Nets can get back to .500 on the season with a win here. Their 14-15 record has them sitting ninth in the standings but just a half game behind the eighth-place Pacers. This is a golden opportunity for Brooklyn to build some momentum. They had previously struggled through a tough five game losing streak prior to their most recent win over Detroit. On the road, the Nets have won only five of their 13 trips. However, facing off against the hapless Pistons has them as heavy favorites to get the win. Brooklyn’s strength this season is undoubtedly their three-point shooting with the team shooting the second-highest percentage from beyond the arc at 38.5%. With the Pistons allowing opponents to shoot an average of 37.8% from deep, it’s likely going to be another long night for the home fans.
