One of the marquee matchups of Wednesday’s NBA slate sees the first-place Denver Nuggets hosting the third-place Golden State Warriors in this Western Conference showdown. The defending champion Nuggets are off to a fast start in the 2023/24 season as they look to defend their title. A 134-116 win over the Pelicans on Monday means that Denver has now won the first three of their current four game home stand. The Nuggets move up to 7-1 on the year, giving them an early half game lead over the 6-1 Mavericks in second-place. The defending champions are still yet to lose at Ball Arena this season as they’ve managed five wins from their first five outings in the high-altitude of Denver. They’ll be without Jamal Murray for this one as the 26-year-old deals with a hamstring injury.

The Warriors have experienced a strong start to the new campaign as they gear up for one more title run with their core group. Golden State recovered brilliantly from an opening night defeat to the Suns to win the next five on the bounce. They were able to again recover from a 115-104 loss to the Cavs with a 120-109 win over the Pistons on Monday on what was the second of a back-to-back. This will be the Warriors third game in the past four days, all of which have come on the road. Additionally, this is the fourth and final game of a four game road stint with a rematch at home vs the Cavs awaiting on Saturday. The Warriors have seemingly solved the problem that haunted them last season. The 2021 champions could not win consistent games as the road team last year, managing just 11 regular season away wins. They’ve already won five games on the road this time around with not even 10% of the season completed.
