Paula Badosa is the world number 11 but up to ninth in the live rankings. A win over Saville will see her climb to eighth. The Spaniard has made a good start to 2025 with one semi-final reached. That was in this year's Australian Open where she beat Coco Gauff.

Since then, her best run has been in the Dubai Tennis Championships where the third round was reached, losing to Elena Rybakina in three sets. This week in Merida, the 27-year-old has beaten Jaqueline Cristian, losing only three games.

Daria Saville is 121st in the rankings and had to come through the qualifiers to reach this main draw. The Australian did that without losing a set and that took her into a first round match against the sixth seed Marta Kostyuk.

Saville won that in straight sets and then faced unseeded Anhelina Kalinina in round two. The first set was lost but Saville won the next two for the loss of four games. We tip Badosa to win this in straight sets.
