Second seed Jessica Pegula is through to the Adelaide Open semifinals and will take on unseeded Daria Kasatkina. The winner will then advance to the final to square off with either Jelena Ostapenko, Elena Rybakina, or Ekaterina Alexandrova. Daria Kasatkina received a walkover from Laura Siegemund in the quarterfinals. This could work in her favour as she will be less jaded than Pegula. The Russian who made the final here last season, has won four of the five matches she has played so far in 2024. She defeated compatriot Anna Kalinskaya in three sets in her last outing. Ranked 15th in the WTA, Kasatkina won two of the five semifinals she contested last year.

Jessica Pegula is making her Adelaide debut and it's turning out to be a memorable one. She began things off in the second round and defeated lucky loser Bernarda Pera in three sets. She also needed a decider to get over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the quarterfinals. Both matches saw the American battle from a set down. The current world number five has played four matches in 2024 and is currently on a three-match winning run. Pegula had one of her best campaigns at tour level last season. She won three titles and finished as runner-up a further three times.
