Danielle Collins, seeded 11th at Wimbledon, will meet 20th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia in the third round of the competition. From this match, Collins aims to progress past the third round at Wimbledon for the first time. The American, who began her grass campaign this year at SW19, has also not played a third-round tie here since 2019.

With her impressive form through this campaign, the prediction is for her to ride to victory here. Collins has compiled a dominant 38-11 record which has resulted in titles in Miami, Charleston and a runners-up finish in Strasbourg. She seems to have saved her best for last as this will be her final season before retiring.

Collins, who is yet to drop a set in this major, defeated the qualifier Dalma Galfi in the second round. She won by the loss of seven games and is now up two places to ninth in the live ranking.

Beatriz Haddad Maia is one win away from equaling her best-ever result in this major, achieved last year. The Brazilian is a strong grass court player, having won two of her three titles on the surface. Before last year though, she couldn’t replicate this form at Wimbledon, failing to win more than one match at the tournament.

Now for two successive editions, she has managed to secure multiple victories here. Maia, who is also yet to lose a set in her run to this round, defeated Camila Osorio in the last round. Their showdown lasted only a few minutes as Osorio was forced to retire while down 3-0 in the first set. The win allowed Maia to move into a winning record.

The world number 20, who has compiled a shaky 18-17 record, arrived in London on a losing record. Moving forward, the winner here will play either Barbora Krejcikova or Jessica Maneiro in the next round.
