Qualifier Dalma Galfi and wildcard Bianca Andreescu, will face off in the first semi-final of the Libema Open on Saturday. This will be the first meeting between these two and the winner will play Liudmila Samsonova, Robin Montgomery or Ekaterina Alexandrova for the title. Dalma Galfi has advanced to only the second tour semi-final of her career. She is now seeking to confirm a first tour final. The Hungarian defeated former Hertogenbosch champion Alexandra Krunic in straight sets in the quarter-finals. This was her fifth successive victory after beginning her third appearance here in the qualifiers. Galfi, who also got the better of fifth seed Veronika Kudermetova in the second round, has improved her record to 17-13. Advancing to this round has propelled her 18 places to 120th in the live ranking.

Bianca Andreescu is much more experienced at tour level than Galfi and is a huge favourite to progress here. The former US Open champion is now one win away from advancing to her seventh tour final. She defeated fellow wildcard Naomi Osaka in a marathon three-set battle that was briefly disrupted by rain. The Canadian has played just six matches this year. She made her season debut slightly over two weeks ago in Roland Garros to end a 10-month injury layoff. The Canadian hasn’t looked to have lost a step as she has won five times with three being on grass. A former WTA top-five player, Andreescu has done wonders for her world ranking by advancing to this round. The 23-year-old arrived here ranked outside the WTA top 225 places. She has now shot up 40 places in the live ranking and is placed at number 188.
