Cleveland comes into this contest against the NBA’s worst record following a morale-boosting home win over the red-hot LA Clippers. The Cavs prevailed 118-108 against a Clippers team that had previously won five in a row and 13 of 15. However, Cleveland proved to the league that they are the true “on-fire” ball club as they’ve now rattled off their 10th win in the last 11 appearances, the best record of any team during that stretch. The hot streak has the Cavs up to fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 28 wins and 16 defeats. This has them sitting just a half game behind third and fourth-placed New York and Philadelphia. They’ll be searching for their eighth home victory in a row in a game where they are heavily favored.

The Detroit Pistons shocked the NBA on Sunday night when they somehow managed to upset the previously first-place Oklahoma City Thunder by a score of 120-104. The Pistons were roughly 12 point underdogs despite being on their home court. A fantastic defensive display saw them hold the upstart Thunder to just 28.6% from downtown while they themselves managed to sink 11 three-pointers on 42.3% shooting from beyond the arc. They’ll now attempt to produce some more of the same magic against the league’s hottest team in hostile territory. Detroit has won only six of 46 games this season. The challenge here will be replicating that same type of performance on the road where they have posted an ugly 2-19 record. They should be getting star point-guard Cade Cunningham back for the trip to Cleveland after he missed out on the surprise win over OKC.
