Two of the worst teams in the NBA face off when the Charlotte Hornets host the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. These are two of only four teams in the league that still have single digit win totals. The Hornets sit 13th-place in the Eastern Conference with their 8-30 record, putting them four games above the Detroit Pistons for the worst mark in the NBA. Their most recent result was a 132-112 point loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the team’s sixth consecutive defeat in a row. The hosts are 1-9 in their last 10 games with their only victory during that stretch a 111-104 away win over the Kings. Things haven’t gone well for the Hornets no matter where they have played this season although they have a slightly better 4-13 home record compared to 4-17 on the road. They’ve also received a boost in recent games with the return of star point guard LaMelo Ball.

The Spurs are the only single-digit team in the Western Conference as they sit in bottom-place. They’ve managed just seven wins so far to go along with 33 losses. San Antonio’s last appearance was a 117-98 defeat against the Boston Celtics, marking their third loss in a row. It was also the second straight game that San Antonio has failed to crack the 100 point mark and they could find themselves struggling yet again this time. The Spurs will have to make due without top-scorer Victory Wembanyama as he is being rested for the trip to North Carolina. The French rookie had been in a terrific run of form where he has scored 20+ points in six of his last seven with an average of just 27 minutes per game. The visitors are 4-17 on the road this season and have lost eight of their last 10 overall.
