An Eastern Conference clash in the NBA sees the Charlotte Hornets hosting the New York Knicks at the Spectrum Center. The Hornets are having a difficult year and are miles away from the team that finished 43-39 in the 2021/22 season. With a record of just 10 wins and 34 losses, Charlotte sits 13th in the East, just a few games above the lowly Pistons and Wizards. They come into this contest against their opponents from the north on a three-game losing streak. Charlotte fell 134-122 to the Utah Jazz on Saturday which was also the second loss in their current four game homestand. The Hornets haven’t seen much of a boost playing in front of the home fans this season with a mark of 5-16 at the Spectrum Center compared to a 5-18 record on the road.

The Knicks are in the ascendancy in the Eastern Conference and are looking like they could be legitimate contenders. They’re currently sitting in fourth-place, just one game behind the 76ers in third and three games behind the second-place Bucks. The decision to ship RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the Raptors for OG Anunoby has paid off in spades as New York has amassed a 12-2 record since the move. Anunoby’s presence gives an instant boost to the Knicks defense and is a large reason as to why they are currently rated as the second-best defensive team in the league with only 109.8 points allowed per game. The Knicks are coming off a 125-109 victory over the Miami Heat to bring their record to 29-17 on the season. It was the team’s sixth win in a row and their eighth in the last 10 games.
