Cardiff City and Brighton have had good starts to the season, which they will be looking to improve on when they meet in the Round 2 of the League Cup. While Brighton got a bye to this round, Cardiff beat Sutton United 3-2 to advance from the first round. The hosts have a good run so far, going to this game unbeaten in six matches, with four wins therein. Their scoring run is also good, the team having netted two or more goals in the last four matches, and as a result three of these matches have produced over 2.5 goals. They are however not very compact defensively, and both sides have scored in four of their last five matches. Even at home, with a four-game unbeaten run, where they’ve scored two or more in three, they have just one clean sheet. One notable stat in Cardiff’s games, most of the goals come in the second half. With four goals in their opening two matches, Brighton can afford to go to this game with confidence, and Neal Maupay has shown good form, scoring in both games. In their two matches, half of the four goals have come in the second half but they have just two clean sheets in the last five matches, and have conceded two or more in the last five. They are also unbeaten in the last two away matches and will be hoping to extend that to this game.
