The quarter-final of the 2023 FIBA World Cup pits two of the tournament’s best players against one another as Canada takes on Slovenia. Slovenia have advanced to the quarter-final of the FIBA World Cup for the first time since 2014. They’ll be seeking their first ever appearance in the semi-final of this competition with a win over the Canadians. Slovenia started out red-hot in this tournament, winning their first four consecutive games. They topped their initial group with wins over Venezuela, Georgia and Cape Verde. The second phase of the group stage saw them pick up an impressive 91-80 victory over third-ranked Australia. However, Slovenia fell to a heavy 100-71 defeat to Germany in their most recent outing. The result was an end to Slovenia’s five game winning streak and also meant that they finished second in the final group stage. Luka Doncic has been the star of the show at this World Cup, leading the competition in scoring with 134 points and an average of 26.4 per game.
