An Eastern Conference matchup in the NBA on Wednesday sees the 11th-place Brooklyn Nets hosting the 12th-placed Toronto Raptors. With their 31-48 record, the Nets have nothing left to play for as they trail the final play-in tournament spot by five games with only three games left on the schedule. It’s been another difficult season for the Nets as they try to build back after the colossal failure that was the KD, Kyrie, Harden big three era. With Mikal Bridges and Cam Thomas, there are a few decent pieces to build around. However, they are still far away from being a competitive playoff team and will need one or two legitimate stars added to the squad in free agency. The Nets fell to a heavy 107-77 defeat on their home court vs the Kings on Sunday, snapping a two-game winning streak. Brooklyn now has a 19-21 mark at the Barclays Center this season.

Toronto comes into Wednesday’s matchup off the back of a 140-123 home defeat to the Indiana Pacers last night. The Raptors had previously won two games in a row prior to the loss, which included a shock 117-111 away win over the second-place Bucks. Despite the defeat, Toronto has been shooting the ball quite well as of late. They shot 51% vs the Wizards and 50% last night vs Indiana, leading to scores of 130 and 123 in the two-game stretch. They’ll be on the second leg of a back-to-back here (as well as their third game in the last four days) but have a lot of young legs on the court so fatigue shouldn’t be too much of a concern. Additionally, they should be getting back point guard Immanuel Quickley who was rested for the game against the Pacers. Quickley in an instant-offense type of player who is averaging 18.3 points per game and 6.8 assists on 39.5% shooting from three with the Raptors this season.
