Boston Red Sox beat defending World Series champions Houston Astros to win the American League Championship title. Now they start this best-of-seven World Series and have to beat last year's losing finalists the Los Angeles Dodgers. Boston last won the World Series in 2013 and have an 8-4 record in the World Series. This season Boston won the American League East with a 108-54 record. They have been showing impressive form in the play-offs, first of all beating the New York Yankees 3-1, including Brock Holt becoming the first player in the MLB post season to hit a cycle. That win took them into the American League Championship Series and Boston ran out impressive 4-1 winners. Chris Sale has been confirmed to play in this opening match after a few recent illness problems. Another key player is David Price and if either of those two players hit form, then Boston's chances of success are going to be very high indeed.
Last year the Los Angeles Dodgers lost in the World Series and are still searching for their first win since 1988. They weren't expecting to get this far when after losing shortstop Corey Seager they were 16-26. They rallied to finish 76-45 but had to win a tie-breaker against Colorado Rockies to win National League West. In the play-offs, they have beaten Atlanta Braves in the Division Series and then edged out Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 to win the National League title. Boston have a deeper line-up than the opponents the Dodgers have faced and they can get the win here.
