The NBA’s best team in the Boston Celtics play host to one of the league’s worst in the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. After encountering some speed bumps over the past two weeks in the form of the Pacers and Bucks, Boston is now back to winning ways. A 105-96 victory over the Raptors on Monday made it two victories in a row for the Celtics and moved their record to 31 wins and only nine losses. This puts them three games above the second-place Bucks for the top spot in the East. Boston is putting their perfect home record on the line here and come in as overwhelming favorites to make it 20 in a row at the TD Garden. They remain the only unbeaten home team in the NBA. The Celtics are unquestionably the league’s best team with their +9.2 adjusted net rating ranking as the highest the league has seen since the 2017 Warriors.

The Spurs will need a minor miracle if they are to pull out a win in this spot. San Antonio has managed to win just seven games this year and their 7-32 record is the worst in the Western Conference. They did manage back-to-back wins just one week ago although those victories came against the equally bad Hornets and Pistons. The Spurs have now lost their last two in a row with their most recent finishing in a 109-99 defeat to the Atlanta Hawks. Rookie Victor Wembanyama has boosted the Spurs defense with his excellent shot blocking thanks to his unreal length. However, San Antonio still struggles to score the ball consistently when they are the visiting team as their 108.4 average points per road game ranks as the third-fewest in the league.
