Australia will look to continue their winning start to the 2023 Rugby World Cup when they take on Fiji on Sunday. This is arguably the pick of the matches this weekend, and based on the first week’s performances, it could be a close match. Australia currently lead Pool C, while Fiji are third. Eddie Jones finally recorded the first win of his second tenure last week as they beat Georgia 35-15. That was their first win in their last six matches, which included a winless 2023 Rugby Championship. Australia were awarded the wooden spoon in that competition and dropped all the way to ninth in the world rankings. However, while they did win the last match, we do have to consider that their opposition were not the greatest in the tournament. Now comes their biggest test so far in the competition, but can they overcome the Flying Fijians? 

Fiji were involved in a match that will likely go down as one of the greats at any Rugby World Cup last week against Wales. They looked out of the contest with eight minutes left on the clock but came back roaring in the final minutes and were on the verge of stealing a victory but for a knock-on just meters from the try line. While that defeat would have hurt, Fiji proved they are top-two contenders in this pool. However, you feel that they have to win this match to keep that hope firmly alive. During the warm-up matches, the visitors won four of their five matches, losing only to France. They beat tier-one opposition Japan and England in that period as well. The Wallabies may be the favourite, but Fiji are not out of this one by a long shot.
