Kaunas Zalgiris travel to Monaco next in the EuroLeague, hoping to boost their dwindling postseason hopes. They enter this game in 13th place in the standings, four wins behind their fourth-placed hosts. Read on for our prediction of this match.
Monaco gave their playoff chances a boost last time out with a strong performance against Fenerbahce. Vassilis Spanoulis’s men outscored second-placed Fener 91-82 to improve to an 18-12 record.
That was only their second win in the last five outings in Europe. Monaco’s inconsistency has held them back from securing a playoff spot yet.
With four matches to play, the French side might miss out on the postseason if they end the season without adding to their 18 wins.
Zalgiris suffered a setback in their postseason quest in the last round. Andrea Trinchieri’s men were outdueled 82-70 by Barcelona as they began a three-game road trip.
Their third loss in the last five games left them with a 14-16 record, locking them out of a top-six finish. The Lithuanian giants’ best hope of now making it to the playoffs is through the play-in which is also not in their hands.
Zalgiris are two games behind the play-in bracket and cannot afford to lose any of their remaining four fixtures. Zaliai Balti won a low-scoring contest 63-62 in the reverse game against Monaco.
